If you’ve been to the museum in the past three years,
then you’ve surely been greeted by Amber’s warm hospitality!
Get to know her in the interview below.
WHAT’S YOUR WORKDAY LIKE?
I’ve been on the museum’s staff for the past three years. I’m responsible for making sure our guests are well informed and directed to the proper places for a successful tour.
I also handle some administrative tasks and assist our guests and my co-workers in any way possible.
WOULD YOU SHARE A LITTLE ABOUT YOUR BACKGROUND?
I’m the second of seven children and love reading, writing, cooking, and being the best wife, sister, daughter, and friend as possible.
WHY DID YOU CHOOSE THIS CAREER?
I wanted something different out of life besides the norm.
I love nature and wanted to explore every part of it so that I could not only educate my family, but others as well.
HOW DOES YOUR JOB CONTRIBUTE TO CONSERVATION?
It’s great to share the knowledge I’ve obtained being employed with the museum with our guests.
Helping them experience nature in a hands-on way spreads our conservation message to the community and beyond through those visitors.
ANY ADVICE FOR A STUDENT INTERESTED IN A BIOLOGY OR MUSEUM CAREER?
Put your heart into whatever you wish to do in life. GO FOR IT! You are your only limit.
